After graduating from the university, you will lose access to several NCSU accounts and services. Make sure that you are aware of the timeline and take the appropriate actions to back up your data. Once disabled, OIT DOES NOT PROVIDE ANY EXTENDED ACCESS TO YOUR GOOGLE WORKSPACE OR UNITY ACCOUNT.
If you are getting authentication errors when trying to access services, you may need to reset your password.
If you maintain an active affiliation as student, staff, or faculty after graduation, then you will not lose access to the NCSU services that your active affiliation allows. For example, if you continue to be a student at the university, then you will not lose access to your NCSU Google account or other student services.
Please note that you may still get the automated notification about losing access in six months, but you will not actually lose access as long as you have an active student, staff, or faculty affiliation.
You will retain access to your NC State Google account (@ncsu.edu) for about six months following your graduation date. You should begin copying your data, updating any online services using your NCSU address, and updating your contact information to be associated with a personal email account instead of your NC State Google account as soon as possible.
It is your responsibility to transfer any needed data or permissions off of your @ncsu.edu Google Workspace account prior to the account being disabled. OIT will contact each graduate with details and information about the alumni email service.
Google Workspace Storage
After you graduate, your Google storage quota will automatically be reduced to 5GB. Being over quota will not impact your ability to send/receive email, access the data in your Google account, or export your files. Please see What happens if I go over my Google storage quota? for more information about going over quota.
You will continue to have access to MyPack Portal indefinitely to access your student records, transcripts, and other information. However, certain features requiring an active student affiliation (e.g., course enrollment) will be restricted if you are not a current student. If you are having issues logging into MyPack Portal, then you should reset your password.
You can expect to lose access to Microsoft 365 and VPN less than 30 days after your graduation date. Make sure that you copy or move any files that you want to keep from your NC State Microsoft 365 OneDrive as soon as possible. Microsoft 365 access and VPN access are only available to active students, staff, and faculty at NC State.
If you conducted research with the university, you should confirm that any files and data owned by your account have been successfully transferred to an appropriate faculty member or PI, so that access is not lost when your account is disabled.
If you are continuing to do research with the university after graduation, then you should work with your faculty advisors or departmental HR to make sure that you have the appropriate affiliation and access.
In general, you should expect to lose access to other IT services (including using the ncsu and eduroam wireless networks and logging into university computers) shortly after graduation.
It is your responsibility to ensure that any files or documents you would like to keep are moved out of any university-provided file space or cloud service.
If you are having issues logging into NC State services that you still have access to, then you should reset your password.
