How do I reset my Unity password?

If you are experiencing problems logging into websites, applications, or resources with your Unity ID and password, then you may need to reset your password. Be sure to change your password after you reset it.

Reset Your Unity Password

  1. Go to the Reset Password page.
  2. Enter your Unity ID (Unity username). Select Submit.
  3. Enter the answer to the security question that it shows you. Select Submit.
    • If you are unable to answer any of your security questions correctly, then you will need to call the NC State Help Desk at 919-515-4357 (HELP) or visit the OIT Walk-in Center for assistance.

Your password will be reset to its default value for the next 30 minutes. Be sure to change your password during that time. Note that you can't log in with your default password; you must change your password before logging in.

Set a New Password

Your Default Password

You will use your default password to change your password. You cannot login with your default password.

Change Your Password

  1. Go to the Password Change Form.
  2. Enter your Unity ID (Unity username) in the Unity ID field.
  3. Enter your default password in the Current Password field.
  4. Enter your new password in the New Password and Confirm New Password fields.
    • Your new password must meet the password requirements listed on the Password Change Form page.
    • You must create a new password; you are not allowed to re-use old passwords.
  5. Select Submit.
  6. Wait for the password change to process on that page. Do not refresh the page.
    • If you get an error message instead of a success message, make the necessary corrections to your new password and submit the form again.

You should receive a successful password change message after the form processes. Most of the time, the new password should start working for Shibboleth logins (e.g., MyPack Portal) in a few minutes. If it is still not working, then wait the full hour for your password to sync across all systems.

Get Help
