MacBook eduroam Enrollment Errors

If you are having issues with enrolling in eduroam on your Mac (e.g., seeing a "Could not continue with credentials collection" error, being asked to log into eduroam after recently enrolling your Mac, or having issues with the SecureW2 app), then you should follow the troubleshooting steps below.

Remove the eduroam Profile and Re-Enroll in eduroam

First, you will need to remove the eduroam profile from your MacBook.

  1. From the Apple menu, select System Settings.
  2. Select Privacy and Security in the sidebar.
  3. Select Profiles. All saved profiles will load.
  4. Find the profile for eduroam.
  5. Select the Remove button to remove the profile.

Then, follow the steps to Enroll or Re-enroll Your Device in eduroam for macOS.

Forget the ncsu-guest Network

Make sure that you are not connected to the ncsu-guest network when enrolling in eduroam. You may also want to forget the network for ncsu-guest.

Configure Profile Only (for issues with the SecureW2 app)

If the Secure W2 JoinNow app gets stuck or otherwise doesn't work, try enrolling in eduroam with the "Configure Profile Only" method.

  1. Go to go.ncsu.edu/eduroamenroll on your MacBook.
  2. Confirm that the correct macOS version shows up and confirm that Configure Profile Only (configure only) is selected.
  3. Select JoinNow (or Sign In if you are not already signed in). A mobile configuration profile will be downloaded.
  4. In Finder, locate and double-click SecureW2.mobileconfig.
  5. When the Profiles settings window in System Preferences opens, select install.... Then, select Install again.
  6. If you are prompted with the "Profiles/MDM wants to make changes" window, enter your computer password. Select OK.

Your device should now be configured for eduroam. If you are on campus, your device should automatically connect to the network. If you are off campus, you should automatically connect to the network when you are back on campus.

Enable Wi-Fi

If you still have issues, make sure that Wi-Fi is enabled on your MacBook.

  1. Select the Wi-Fi icon on the menu bar.
  2. Make sure that Wi-Fi is turned On.
  3. Select the eduroam network from the list of available networks.
