Removing a Work or School Account from Windows 10/11


If you've installed Microsoft Office 365 on a personal Windows computer and you clicked the option "Allow my organization to manage this device" when signing in to Office with your NC State account, you will have given your NC State account permission to manage Windows.  This is strongly NOT recommended, and the instructions below will allow you to remove the account.

Remove Your NC State Account

  1. Open Windows Settings on your computer by
    1. Pressing the Start key and the letter 'I' on your keyboard.
    2. Opening the Start Menu and clicking the gear icon above the power button or the Settings app in your list of pinned or all apps.
  2. Select "Accounts".
  3. Select "Access work or school".
  4. Click on your NC State email address, then choose "Disconnect".
  5. When asked if you are sure you want to remove the account, click "Yes".
