Add Get2Factor to a Generic Account

Get2Factor (G2F) is a virtual Google Authenticator app, which allows generic account service contacts to manage their generic account(s) and access Google 2-Step Verification (G2SV) codes online. Setting up Get2Factor is highly recommended for generic accounts with more than three service contacts.

Set Up the Get2Factor App

Note: This process is much easier with two browser windows set up next to each other, rather than trying to do all of it in the same window.

  1. Make sure that your Google generic account is enrolled in Google 2-Step Verification before setting up Get2Factor. The account must have Google 2-Step turned on before it can be set up with Get2Factor.
    • Note: Google requires that you set up Google 2-Step with a phone number. After you have enrolled in Google 2-Step and have set up a second G2SV login method, the phone number can be removed if desired.
  2. Log into your generic account on the Google 2-Step Verification Enrollment page.
  3. Select the Authenticator tab under Second steps.
  4. Select Set up authenticator.
  5. Open a new window or tab and log into Get2Factor (G2F) with your Unity account.
  6. Select Account Owner Tools > Setup G2F for Generic Google Account.
  7. Drag the QR code from the Set up authenticator page to the Drag and drop QR code here box on the Get2Factor page.
    • Alternatively, select CAN'T SCAN IT? on the Set up authenticator page. Enter the generic account email address and provided secret key in the fields on the Get2Factor page.
  8. On the Set up authenticator page, select Next.
  9. On the Get2Factor page, select Submit.
  10. On the Set up authenticator page, enter the code from the Get2Factor page in the Enter Code field. Select Verify.

Your generic account can now use codes from the Get2Factor app to sign in with Google 2-Step using the Google Authenticator option.
