OIT Public Knowledge - Unable to install Cisco Secure Client on my Mac

Only being able to install part of the Cisco Secure Client package usually means that your Mac thinks it still has Cisco Secure Client installed. This can happen if you trash the items in the Cisco folder instead of using the Uninstall Secure Client program.

If you have administrator rights on your Mac, you can run the uninstall command in Terminal.

Open the "Terminal" app on your Mac and run this command.

Using Spotlight Search, type "Terminal" to find that app.
It can also be located in Applications > Utilities.

sudo /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpn_uninstall.sh

If that command is successful at removing the Cisco Secure Client, then start the installer again. If that command doesn't work because it can't find that uninstall program, then run this command in Terminal and try installing Cisco Secure Client again.

sudo pkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.secureclient.gui

If you have the older version of the Cisco AnyConnect client installed, run this command instead.

sudo pkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.anyconnect.vpn
