Unable to install Cisco Secure Client on my Mac

Only being able to install part of the Cisco Secure Client package usually means that your Mac thinks it still has Cisco Secure Client installed. This can happen if you trash the items in the Cisco folder instead of using the Uninstall AnyConnect program.

If you have administrator rights on your Mac, you can run the uninstall command in Terminal.

Open the "Terminal" app on your Mac and run this command.

sudo /opt/cisco/vpn/bin/vpn_uninstall.sh

If that command is successful in removing Cisco Secure Client, then start the installer again.  If that command doesn't work because it can't find that uninstall program, then run this command in Terminal and try to install Cisco Secure Client again.

sudo pkgutil --forget com.cisco.pkg.anyconnect.vpn

If required, you can re-download the VPN client from our article titled, Install the NC State VPN Client for macOS 11 and higher.
