To ensure LANTech assignments have been changed with the required authorizations and department communications, submitting a ticket to help@ncsu.edu is required to keep the roster of LANTechs accurate.
When an MDS client department wishes to name a new LANTech outside of the annual SLA cycle, either replacing or in addition to current staff members in the LANTech role:
The Department's Director or Assistant/Associate Director (someone with the authority to authorize the SLA) submits a ServiceNow ticket to help@ncsu.edu requesting the change. The authorizer's approval of the change must be clearly indicated in the ticket. Please indicate whether the new person will replace a current LANTech or will be in addition to the current LANTech(s).
MDS Staff will update the following:
Once all items have been completed, the update below will be placed in the customer visible notes to state:
(Place names here) have been added to the corresponding groups, Lantech website, and scheduled inventory reports. Scheduled reports are sent on the 1st of every month and provides information on currently active devices.
It is also suggested that new LANTechs complete the LANtech training located at https://reporter.ncsu.edu/link/courseview?courseID=OIT-LANTec&deptName=OIT
The training only takes around 15 minutes and provides information to better understand responsibilities and functions that the LANtech role fulfills.
