Troubleshoot eduroam Connection Errors on Your Android Device


If you are having issues connecting your Android device to eduroam, you should follow the instructions below to troubleshoot. Note that you must go through eduroam enrollment process first before connecting to eduroam.

Manually Connect

If your device does not automatically connect to the network when you are on campus, try manually connecting. 

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Select Network & internet > Internet.
  3. Select eduroam from the list of available networks.

Forget Other Campus Networks

If you continue to have issues, try removing any existing campus networks (e.g., ncsu and ncsu-guest) or other public networks from your device that might be automatically trying to connect.

  1. Open the Settings app on your device.
  2. Select Network & internetInternet.
  3. Select and hold the network that you want to forget.
  4. Select Forget.
  5. Manually connect to eduroam by selecting eduroam from the list of available networks.

Remove and Re-Enroll in eduroam

  1. Uninstall the SecureW2 JoinNow app from your device. Check the list of all applications on your device if you are having trouble locating the app.
  2. Forget the eduroam network.
    1. Open the Settings app on your device.
    2. Select Network & internetInternet.
    3. Select and hold eduroam. If you do not see eduroam or do not have the option to forget, then skip this step.
    4. Select Forget.
  3. Re-enroll in eduroam by following the eduroam enrollment instructions.
