After your official separation date from the university, you will start losing access to different parts of your account. Every employee must go through the separating employee process when they separate from their job, including retirees. You can find more information about the offboarding process in the Separating Employee Guide.
Account Access Timeline
- You will retain full access to your Unity account, including access to your NC State Google account, MyPack Portal, and other campus resources, for 21 days after your separation date. After those 21 days, your Unity account will be disabled, and you will be unable to log in, other than being able to log into the MyPack Portal.
- You will lose access to the Travel Center in MyPack Portal immediately after your separation date. For assistance with travel requests, you should reach out to your supervisor.
- You will maintain employee access to the MyPack Portal until April 30th of the calendar year following your separation, which you can use to access tax information and payroll information. For example, if you separated from the university on October 1, 2024, then you would have access to MyPack Portal through April 30, 2025.
- After the 21 days following your separation date, you will need to reset your password to log into MyPack Portal.
- If you are a former student, then you will not lose access to MyPack Portal entirely, but you will lose access to the Employee Self-Service (ESS) section after April 30th of the calendar year following your separation.
For Issues Logging In
- If your password isn't working, then you can reset your password online. Ensure you keep a record of your campus ID number (employee ID number), which is necessary to reset your password.
- If you lost access to Duo for 2-Factor Authentication (e.g., deleted the app, got a new phone, or got a new phone number), then you can reactivate the Duo Mobile app or contact the NC State Help Desk at 919-515-4357 to obtain a bypass code to sign in.
Frequently Asked Questions
- What if I need employee access for work that I'm doing with the university after separation?
- If you are continuing to do work with the university (e.g., completing research) after you separate, then you should reach out to your supervisor and/or departmental HR to work out a way for you to maintain/get the appropriate access.
- What if I need to access my payroll/tax information after I lose access to MyPack Portal?
- What if I am a current student, have recently graduated, or should otherwise still have access?
- If you're a current student, you will not lose all of your access. You will only lose access to employee-specific services, such as Employee Self-Service in MyPack Portal.
- If you recently graduated and you should have access beyond when you would lose access as an employee, then you will keep the regular access that you would have as a graduated student and would only lose access to the employee-specific services.
- Can retirees keep any employee access?
- Retirees can work with their departmental HR to work out any kind of retiree access. Note that based on the employee separation process, you may still lose access for 21 days following the separation date. Retiree access will likely not activate until after those 21 days.
