Campus users on personal devices may need to install and use the NC State VPN service to access certain university services when off campus.  If you have a university provided device and need assistance with installing the NC State VPN Client you should contact your Local Department IT for assistance.

Installation instructions for Windows 10 and 11

1. Download the Cisco Secure Client 5.X installer.
2. Double click on the downloaded file to begin the installation.
3. Accept the End User License Agreement.
4. Click on the Install button.
5. If you are prompted, allow the application to make changes on your computer.

The Cisco Secure Client will be added to your Start menu.

Connect with the NC State VPN

Start Before Logon (SBL) - Optional

In cases where you are manually installing the Cisco client on a managed university device or have need of being able to login to the NC State VPN before logging into windows you will want to also install the Cisco Secure Client SBL package.  After installing this package you will be able to connect to the NC State VPN before logging into windows.
