Users/departments interested in purchasing additional Google Storage can request increases on Google Shared Drives. Please read this article for more information on this process.
In 2025-2026 shared drives, generic accounts (My Drive), and user accounts (My Drive) over their quota will be billed on a cost/GB rate of $0.1953125/GB.
User accounts and generics (My Drive) will still turn read-only if over their My Drive quotas starting April 14, 2025. Overages will still be charged until they reduce below their quotas. even with paying their overages.
These are only the quota tiers. All storage will still be charged for the usage, not capacity. For example, a user requests a 250 GB level and uses 192 GB, they would receive a bill for 192 GB - 15 free GB). The prices here just provide examples if a user had a specific level. No. Due to issues with business continuity/offboarding and allowing for ledger five/grants, all user/generic accounts cannot receive quota increases. Any user accounts (My Drive) over their quotas on April 14, 2025 will turn read-only, although email will continue to work normally for any of those accounts. They will still be billed for any usage over their quota.
