On Nov. 5, the university disabled text messages as a Duo authentication method. Duo is the platform you use to verify your identity when logging in to NC State services like Google Workspace, MyPack Portal and WolfWare.

Instead, everyone is required to use one of the following methods:

• Duo Mobile App (Recommended): The app is as easy as pushing a button on your phone to approve or deny a login attempt. To set up the app, see these instructions.
• Security Key: If you are unable to use the Duo Mobile app or don’t have a smartphone, you can use a security key — a physical device used to authenticate. Learn more about security keys and how to get one.

Disabling the text messaging authentication method will improve the cybersecurity measures that protect our community. Using the Duo Mobile app does not make your personal data subject to monitoring by the university per REG 08.00.02 – Use of IT Resources Regulation.
