OIT developed a process to provide appropriate Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 access to personnel considered full time but not paid directly by NC State.  This includes mostly Unpaid Appointment (UP) faculty and staff in CALS, USDA, BME, and ROTC as well as some additional outliers.  

The goal of this initiative is to treat these essential personnel as full employees in terms of software access which will streamline support, improve collaboration and ensure compliance.

Google and Microsoft Full Licenses

Google Workspace Education Plus and Microsoft O365 licenses are provided to all non-paid/no-pay faculty and staff affected.

• Cost: $75 annually per person.
• Billing: This annual charge will be included with the Google Storage Bills starting July 2026.  OIT will share a full list of the users before May 2026 and then every year thereafter.
• Who: All users who meet the qualifications will get charged.
• Rationale: This grants these individuals full access to our primary collaboration and productivity suites including the same storage quotas, app and feature access, and security features as all existing full time employees.
