Microsoft Azure Cloud Services

Microsoft Azure Cloud Services

Azure, Microsoft’s public cloud offering is available to NC State University.

Network connectivity exists between our Azure Tenant and on campus networks. Azure can help you meet your compliance requirements with all common industry regulations.  NC State already utilizes Azure for Entra ID authentication to Office 365 including Microsoft Teams, and for hosting of service to compliment the NCSU Active Directory and System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) environments for cloud-based and remote clients.

Microsoft Azure can be used by research teams to build proof of concepts, migrate existing research workloads and datasets to the cloud, or build tools to facilitate research with Azure Research Credits.

Cloud services can also be requested, modified and deleted through the Cloud Service Request Form. Cloud inquiries are usually regarding consultation for a project or to onboard some project onto the cloud (or both).

Microsoft Azure has a number of services that are available for Free.

OIT Managed Subscriptions or Resource Groups will require a NCSU Project ID for provisioning, OIT will centrally manage the billing and accounting and charge back the departmental Project ID.

A starting estimate for costs can be calculated using the Azure Price Calculator.

For Projects that exceed the free tier limits, OIT will centrally manage the billing and accounting and charge back the departmental NCSU Project ID.
