WordPress is an open-source project and its core is contributed to by hundreds of community volunteers. The convenience and flexibility of WordPress has made it one of the most popular solutions on the internet for building websites.
The Office of Information Technology provides WordPress hosting options for the campus community in the Web Publishing environment. These services allow NC State users to quickly and easily create websites for a multitude of needs. These services also offers plugins to facilitate the use of university calendars, displaying events, tables, analytics and university authentication tools. - Our free tier is designed for individuals (students, staff, and faculty) to share information about themselves. We frequently see portfolios, CVs, and academic assignments being hosted at this tier.
- You can use a fourth-level domain that will look like yourname.wordpress.ncsu.edu
- Use of the Free Tier of the NC State Web Platform Theme.
- Our standard tier is designed to empower groups, units and colleges to get their critical information on the web. The main ncsu.edu website and most college websites are hosted on this tier. Only staff and faculty members are eligible to request sites on the standard tier.
- You can use any domain you like (as long as it meets our Domain Name Policy). Third-level ncsu.edu domains and non-NCSU domains require approval.
- Use of the Free, Pro, or Premium Tiers of the NC State Web Platform Theme depending on licensing.
- You will have access to premium WordPress plugins that have been purchased for campus use.
