You can use Splunk to search, monitor, and analyze machine-generated data using a web-style interface. Using a searchable repository, you can generate graphs, reports, alerts, dashboards, and visualizations. Splunk makes machine data accessible across an organization, and identifies data patterns, provides metrics used to troubleshoot problems, and provides intelligence for business operations.

- Types of data you are looking to aggregate
- Approximate number of machines that would be forwarding data
- Operating Systems

Splunk Enterprise allows you to:
- Ingest data from numerous sources to be correlated across disparate data sets to make meaningful realizations about what is happening on your systems
- Create customized dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to better understand the data in real time or scheduled to run at any interval
- Continuous monitoring of events and alerting on critical events rather than waiting on end-user reports of issues
