Unity Password changes are currently experiencing delays and other issues. Some users are able to change password and will even get a message indicating the password change was successful, but the new password will still not work on most NC State services. Waiting (e.g. for an hour) may sometimes fix the issue, but others seem to still not work after an extended wait. This also does not appear to be impacting every password change done. The appropriate teams are looking into the root cause of the issue and this posting will be notified upon a resolution.

It was identified that there were a few expired certificates preventing proper communications between systems. The Certificates have been updated and all systems and services should be operating normally again. Users needing help with 2FA, resetting, or changing their password should try again and contact the Help Desk at 919-515-4357 if they continue to experience any further problems.

The sites that support Self-service 2FA bypass codes and the editing of user's security questions are not accepting authentications at this time. The administrative site that allows IT staff and the NC State Help Desk to process password resets and verify identity is also unavailable preventing direct support for requests that require it.
OIT Staff are investigating the issue and we hope to have a resolution soon. At this time users trying to set up or edit their security questions or are in need of 2FA Bypass codes or a password reset through the Help Desk may need to wait until the issue can be resolved.

This issue has been resolved. The password management site and processes have been returned to normal operation. Users who tried changing their password during the outage before the maintenance page was in place, may need to do a password sync or a self-service reset and change to correct their password in all NC State systems. There is a current issue with passwords being successfully set to all downstream systems. The password change and self-service pages have been moved to maintenance mode. Users will not be able to change or reset their passwords during this time.

The Help Desk has spoken with a number of users whose new passwords are not yet working for things like MyPack Portal, Moodle, or other Shibboleth services. We have confirmed the logs show a successful change and the new password does make it to the Google account. We are working with our Unity Account team to identify more information.
