Transfer Google Photos Out of your NC State Google Account KB0020209
NC State Users should not be storing personal photos in their NC State Google Account as faculty, Staff, and Students do not retain their accounts after separation from the University. If you wish to transfer or move any existing personal photos to a personal Google account or download your photos to save in a storage location of your choice see the steps below.
Transfer Photos to a Personal Google Account
- Set Up Partner Sharing in your NC State Google Account.
- Accept the Partner Sharing your Personal Account.
- In your Personal Account click Settings > Partner Sharing
- Below "Partner Sharing" click on Save to Account to see available options.
- Click Save.
- All photos: Any photo in the partner sharing will be saved.
- Photos of selected people: Select from your face groups. When Google Photos recognizes any of those face groups from your partner’s photos, it’ll save the photos automatically.
- Click Done.
Once you have saved your Google Photos shared from your NC State Account you should delete them from your NC State Account and then permanently delete them from your trash. Be sure you have appropriate storage in your personal Google Account as once the files are deleted or your NC State Account is disabled, the photos in your personal account will begin using storage. Visit https://drive.google.com/settings/storage from your NC State Google Account to see storage usage and potential usage of any data transferred to your personal account.

- Deselect All then Scroll Down to find Google Photos
- You can customize which albums to include in your Archive.
- Click Next Step at the bottom.
- Then Choose your archives destination, frequency, file type, and size.
Keeping the file size smaller will allow easier individual downloads if you have a slower or unstable internet connection that may prevent successful downloading in one large archive file.
