Instructors may need to remove a single grade item for an individual student or small group of students so that it is not calculated as part of their overall course total.

To exclude individual grade items on a case-by-case basis, follow the instructions in this article.

Excluding Individual Grade Items Using the Single View Grade Report

To exclude a grade item from a student's total:

  1. In the course menu at the top of the main Moodle course page, select the "Grades" tab.
  2. In the Grader report table, find the specific grade column that should be excluded.
  3. At top of that grade column, click the pencil icon to open the "Single view" page for the activity.
  4. Enable "Edit mode".
  5. Find the student's row in the table that appears.
  6. In that student's row, in the "Exclude" column, check the box.
  7. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page.

That grade item will now be ignored when calculating the specific students course total.
